Fishing With The DAIWA PRESSO Travel Ultralight!

Fishing With The DAIWA PRESSO Travel Ultralight!

The Daiwa Presso 4-piece Travel Ultralight is a fantastic rod which I have been using for quite a while now. I have hooked and landed tons of fish (tiny, big, and everything in between) so I wanted to document my thoughts on this rod in a video.

The main thing I like about the Daiwa Presso Travel Ultralight is how well it fishes for being a 4-piece rod. When you fish with it, it is hard to notice that it isn’t a standard one-piece rod. It is light, sensitive, and comfortable to fish with yet you get the versatility of being able to take it with you wherever you go.

  1. just picked up this exact rod as mu UL rod, i wanted the compactness of it, i paired it with a daiwa fuego 1000D, trying to figure out what line now your videos are some of the best for UL info

  2. I ordered this rod from discount tackle and sadly managed to snap the top off on my first outing. Had a snag, gave it a tug, and boom! Daiwa doesn’t sell the parts. Hoping discount tackle has spares laying around.

  3. What lures do you have in there just one of each? I see that you’re the owner of that company, I bass fish but want to get a little more into pan/ trout fishing too and already have a 5’6” Presso setup with a Daiwa Fuego LT reel.

  4. You really need to learn to reel with your left hand. It’s much easier than having to flip the rod over every cast.

  5. I’m looking for a lightweight travel rod/reel that I can pack for my motorcycle adventures. What would you recommend?

  6. I have a question, you said you’re using mono line here but what is your preferred line? I set my dads Christmas rod up, a Fenwick Eagle with a flueger president 30 and 6lb trilene Fluoro and the thought behind the fluoro was that it would make hook settings easier. I just want your thoughts

  7. I have this rod and really enjoy it.
I am not sure why bait fisherman think the rod has to be single or at most two piece to have performance. Almost all of Flyfishing rods are multiple piece, 4 to 6 piece, and are higher performance then spinning rod. Diawa did a very good job with this rod.

  8. I’m on my third presso. Broke my first two already. Each one lasted me about 3 years. Went back to get me another just because there isn’t much out there like this pole.

  9. Due to financial restraints my go to ultralight rod is the 5ft 6 Abu Garcia devil spin rod and a Daiwa Legalis 1000 i do want to try a little longer for bigger water but the 5ft 6 has served me well and ive caught multiple big brownies over here if i had a better budget i would love to try this Presso ✌💙👍 from Scotland ❤🎣 ©® 😉 😁

  10. I know this is an old video, but I just got this rod today. I was wondering how do you store the reel and line when you break down the rod? Do you end up just cutting the line and storing the rod and reel separately?

  11. I liked my first so much I just received my second of the 6’6" version. I normally go with two-piece rods, but I like the action of this in four pieces so much with the balance paired with a Lew’s TLC2000 that I went for two. I’d rate it as a light more than an ultralight – but that’s fine with 8# braid with a 6# fluro. leader. One for jigs and one with a swivel for spinners/micro plugs and I figure I’ll be in kayak heaven for smallmouth and perch.

  12. I really liked this rod when I first got it. But then the tip broke off at the third eyelet. Diawa replaced it. Then Ii lost that one one on a raft trip. So I bought a second one the 2nd time I used it the tip broke at the same place as the first one, while playing a 1+ lb white bass. The tip top is poorly done as line was constantly getting snagged on the butt of the tip top. But to Diana’s credit the replaced the second broken rod with another model. I really really wanted to like this rod, but…….
Reading others reviews I was not the only person to have this issue.

  13. I think that I have just found my ideal ultralight rod; easy to store, easy to carry, excellent specs, good looking, and at a good price. I think that I will pair mine with a Daiwa QZ750 Ultralight Reel. Thanks, Eathan; you cemented my decision to get one.

  14. Thinking about getting this rod in a 6′ UL…any preference on it vs the Daiwa Procyon 5’6" UL. Want something that makes fishing Bluegill and small bass more fun. I prefer using braid to leader and heard you say in Procyon video that you probably shouldn’t use braid with that rod…just curious. Also, any reel pairing suggestion you like lately for either rod?

  15. What reel ya like on there bud? Older video, link is broken. Looks like an older version of Laguna LT or or REVROS LT?

  16. What reel are you using? The link in the description doesn’t work anymore. Looking for a reel that perfectly matches my new 7′ presso like this reel.

  17. I bought that Ugly Stick GX2 and I was thinking I need to get an ultra light fishing pole for the pond in my neighborhood.

  18. Right hand reel handles are like nails on a chalkboard to me, I don’t knoe why. And i can only use right dide handles on baitcasters. It makes zero sense,

  19. I’m looking for a 4pc UL and none that I can find are rated to 1/64. Would you err on the shorter or longer side to help casting the 1/64oz Mulies? Also sux, can’t find Presso anywhere, I’ll have to slum-it with the noodly Spinmatic.

  20. I have an upcoming vacation to yellowstone and need a travel rod..

I’m having a hard time deciding since I can only bring one…

I just wanna do some trout fishing and have something that can fit in my hiking pack..

Should I go ultralight or light? I keep getting conflicting recommendations from buddy’s lol

  21. The main problem is the case. It is to Ling to put in carry on luggage. I pomade a smaller car rod tube.

  22. Just bought one and a Daiwa Legalis LT size 1000 reel to pair with it. Im hoping to catch tons of panfish, small bass, and trout with it.

  23. Great rod but you need to get a left side handle reel switching hands every time you cast would drive me crazy!😂🎣

  24. Often wondered why rod makers don’t put ruler markings on the rod. Would be pretty easy to do, but also an easy enough mod i guess.

    Paint markers for now 😬
