  1. absolutely love my gx2 had it for many years, still bring it with me along with my 2 other go to poles every trip!

  2. I’m addicted to that rod the reel is trash but for 20 bucks I have gone through 3 of them and just swap the reel to my m1 500

  3. My friend is just starting to get into fishing. He bought that combo and catchs fish along side me while I use my $250~ combo .
He out fished me the other day we went for bluegill. He also doesn’t baby his gear and the rod I’m has been holding up. Reel is dying.

  4. I got that rod at walmart for only 7 dollars because the handle was missing, but I jerry-rigged it and put a different handle on it.

  5. She good looks nice ive Owen three of them reels bad ass but the rod is dudu thay brake easy I rather run the dock runner, even though it’s a Shakespeare lbs

  6. i have the older model micro series 7 footer. got two of them on sale for 9 dollars. my mom has caught her pb large mouth and rainbow with it. going on about 6 years of service, reels got janky on both after anout 4 years but the rods are awesome for the price.

  7. Why do so many rave about the gx2? I went to wal mart and looked at these budget combos people on here talk about and the gx2 and the regular ugly stick reels were neither super easy or smooth to reel. The micro was so much easier and smother which is sad for less than half the price

  8. I like enjoyed using that combo for many years! But I just perch purchase the Zebco Roam $49 + taxes at Walmart or $44 at Sports Academy! It cast better and farther for $18 dollars more!

  9. For me it would have to be the lews Xfinity or Reactor. Insanely smooth combo one piece and very sensitive. Or even the Black Max spinning combo, it’s a little whippy for my liking, but I’ve landed hundreds of fish using the good old wacky rig on it and it’s still going strong.

  10. Negative…… Ugly Stik dock runner. $17.44…… just do a quick YouTube search if you don’t think it can catch big fish. If you really are on a strict budget and need something that’ll haul you in some decent fish you can’t beat the dock runner.

  11. Got a lews Hank parker cranking stick and a pfleuger monarch 3 years ago and it’s been pretty solid for the 75$ I paid for both. The reel is a little sassy in the cold but that combo has held up to quite a few river smallies and a accidental musky

  12. I use the Berkley Fusion spinning combo for catfish. I’ve had it for nearly four years and it still holds up. Caught everything from small channel cats, all the way to huge flatheads on it. It was only about 35 bucks I think.

  13. I’ve got a couple Shakespeare Cirrus reels. Broke the rods at some point, but replaced them with Shakespeare Durango rods.

  14. That thing wouldn’t last after one fish like a snook Jack redfish the gears will strip right out on you but yeah you can catch a puny Bass with it

  15. Those are great i have the rod i didnt buy the combo because those get snatched up quick out here😂 but i just got a sweet reel for it for 26$ and im super siked to try it out as the one i have on it now has some MILES on it.

  16. Shakespeare is a great starter/mid level gear! I’ve got a carp rod 2lb test curve and it handles 10lb carp all day long

  17. For freshwater many can get it done this is a great choice just dont get it wet with that saltwater and if so dunk it on freshwater ant it will last forever 🙏💪

  18. the ozark trail 20$ spinning reel is really good i have 5 of them seriously get 1 i got alot of hours on them
